While a number of modern innovations are used in the production of the silk, such as methods to colorfast the fabric and the breeding of new strains of silkworm to produce thicker threads, the expert weaving techniques are otherwise almost identical. Our material is handmade in small lots using hand looms. You will notice the thread joins along the warp and visible cross weave that indicate true hand looming. The silk from enormous, automated factories have none of these attributes. Only limited quantities of the very highest quality of this silk are available for any given period, so these items will always be a privileged possession.
